This summer, all out for the park!
So far this July there have been many actions in the park. A protest from MLK Jr. Park to People’s Park called attention to the university’s plans and showed the strength of our communities’ opposition!

Legal Efforts to Support People’s Park
Lawyers arguing on behalf of the People’s Park Historical Distict and People’s Park Council have stopped construction for several months. They have won court orders that now prohibit UC from beginning construction or even putting a fence up around our park. On July 29, 2022 that very formidable team of lawyers will present grounds for invalidating UC’s very inadequate Environmental Impact Report (EIR) on Project #2 (People’s Park). Prevailing on July 29 would set UC back, require a new EIR, and motivate building on an alternative site.
We’ve held off UC’s insatiable land grabbing. Preserving People’s Park is now much more than a distant possibility… IF WE CAN PAY OUR LAWYERS! We currently owe them $ 79,000.00! THEY MUST BE PAID!!
